FAQ

  • What is HARMONY ADULT DAY SERVICES?
Harmony is an adult day center, which provides structured socialization and health monitoring for our guests, as well as respite for caregivers. We serve seniors/adults of all abilities in the greater Dayton area who cannot be safely left alone, who demonstrate a decline in cognitive functioning, or who are just in need of increased socialization. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm.

  • What types of activities are clients involved in?
We provide a daily activity, meal schedule, and special events calendar. The daily activity schedule provides details about the program that enhances cognitive skills and physical engagement. We have time set aside for social hour, current events, group and individual activities (crafts, baking, games, gardening, etc.), health updates, and more. Our day also includes exercises classes and nutritious meals. Participate in the community by hosting different performance groups from the area.

  • Can I drop my loved one off whenever I need a rest?
We ask that our guests attend on a regular basis. This not only develops a schedule for your loved one, but it also helps them to establish a relationship with the staff and other guests. A guest may choose to attend every day or just a few half-days a week. Twenty-four hour notice is required for a cancellation. And, with notice, often a guest may change their scheduled day to attend.

  • Is there a waiting list?
We do have limited openings on certain days. If there are no openings on a day you wish to attend, we will place your name on a waiting list for that day and notify you immediately when a space becomes available. We encourage you to go through the application process even if the day you wish to attend is full. Openings change weekly.

  • What does the enrollment process involve?
To enroll in our program, an enrollment interview needs to be scheduled in order for the Office Manager to meet with the prospective guest. This meeting takes approximately 45 minutes. This meeting involves an overview of the program, including our mission, admission criteria, discharge criteria, physician forms, and daily activities. We also conduct a quick assessment to ensure that our services are appropriate for the prospective guest.
Before a guest begins services with us, we need to have the Physician Clearance form and the New Guest enrollment paperwork completed. Information and forms will be provided during the enrollment interview.

  • Who do I talk to regarding transportation needs?
During the enrollment interview, notify the Office Manager about the need for transportation.

  • Are there financial aid programs available?
Reach out to Office Manager for additional information.

  • Do you provide any health care?
We provide assistance with activities of daily living as described in the admission criteria.
Caregivers will provide medication reminders as appropriate.

  • Who am I leaving my loved one with?
Our staff consists of the following qualified personnel: Office Manager and trained caregivers under the direct guidance of medical providers.

  • How can I help?
Volunteer! Our volunteers are the backbone of our program. We rely on them to provide additional support during programming and activities. If you don't have time to volunteer and would like to support us in other ways, we always welcome event sponsorship and donations that grants our members with the best care.
